Thomas Wee Thomas Wee is a media and editorial consultant, with extensive experience in the news media and in training and consultancy.
During his 25-year career with SPH, he undertook senior editorial responsibilities at The Straits Times and Business Times, covering all aspects of newspaper operations from reporting and editing to production and journalism training.
Thomas has at various times been News Editor, Features Editor, Shipping Editor, Chief Sub-Editor, Night Editor and Production Editor. He was also Head of SPH’s Editorial Training Unit, overseeing the training and development of all SPH journalists – from reporters and sub-editors, to newsroom supervisors and section heads.
Since leaving the Singapore Press Holdings group, he has provided media and editorial guidance and advice to his clients in both the public and private sectors. He has trained communications officers and senior management of ministries and statutory organisations, as well as account directors and managers of PR agencies, and their clients.
Thomas customises his workshops, tailoring them to the particular needs of each client. He also conducts regular writing courses (of which news releases and speeches have been in great demand) and other media relations workshops. He is often called upon to teach effective messaging to senior executives and to prepare them for interviews with journalists.
His insights and perceptions have helped communications and management teams in companies and government organisations to chart realistic strategies and work more effectively with the news media.
