An effective facilitator
is one who is able, among other things, to draw out even the most
silent member in a group, diffuse hostile situations in a non-threatening
manner, clarify and focus discussions, and skillfully chair consultation
sessions/meetings to ensure that these remain on track and achieve
specific, identified goals.
And today's challenging work
environment demands that everyone learns to become an effective
facilitator, not only when conducting public consultations, but
also at small focus group discussions, or even meetings at the office.
This interactive workshop
is designed to teach these skills in a most practical manner.
At the end of the workshop,
participants will increase their ability to :
- Be clear
about the function of facilitation and the role of a facilitator
- Explore the core planning
and delivery skills required
- Identify the range of
situations in which facilitation skills are used and in which
a facilitator is required
- Define and learn strategies
for planning and conducting facilitation
